Mr. Grabensee was admitted to the bar in 1998 and has been registered as a lawyer at the District Court in Düsseldorf without interruption since then.

His main work as a lawyer focuses on criminal law and legal questions that arise in connection with the Internet. To name just one example, he has provided extensive consulting services and represented the first German ICANN-accredited registry for the .com, .net and .org top-level domains.

He has been the chairperson of the Board of Directors at Afilias, registry for the .INFO domain, since September 2003.

In connection with his consulting services on questions concerning the Internet, Philipp Grabensee was also a member of the Names Council in the ICANN Domain Name Supporting Organization (DNSO). He testified as an expert in front of the U.S. Federal Trade Commission and is actively involved in the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS) process. Also, he is the author of several articles dealing with Internet governance.
